K-C secures Best Procurement Team and the Future Leader honors.
More than 600 senior procurement executives from across the globe recently gathered in central London for the Procurement Leaders Awards, a prestigious procurement industry awards program. K-C won two of the top 12 award categories. The Global Procurement Organization received the Best Procurement Team Award, and was recognized as a team that has worked to achieve a significant goal by demonstrating initiative, creativity and leadership to be a positive force for change and improvement in the business. Our team’s characteristics and ingredients for a successful procurement organization was complimented for having the ability to build strong internal and external relationships, built on trust, to be seen as relevant to the business and key partners as well as for reaching great success in contributing to sustainable value creation and demonstrating an innate passion to bring new ideas and solutions to the company’s internal customers.
K-C’s Michael Hindman was on hand during the ceremony to pick up the Future Leader Award. Hindman, Strategy director, Kimberly-Clark International, received this award as an example of a procurement professional showing potential to achieve greatness in the profession. Judges evaluated contender’s personal drive and determination, business acumen and ingenuity in tackling genuine procurement challenges, and hands down selected Hindman as the optimum winner. The unique qualities that position him as a future leader were identified as: 1) his motivation and passion for excellence; 2) his approach to business with balance by thinking up and down the supply chain to create systemwide results without unintended consequences for other business functions; and 3) his ability to see a large vision for the future, while working in the present interim steps needed to deliver on the vision.
More than 330 entries were received from 136 different companies in 27 countries for this year’s annual Procurement Leaders Awards – an increase of 46 percent from last year. According to the organizers, all entries excelled in quality so those shortlisted, highly commended, and, of course, winners should be proud of their achievements.
“Whether you win an award or not, taking part in an international recognition program with quality judging means we can measure our progress towards procurement excellence, innovation and leadership against that of our peers and the best in the world,” says Cynthia Dautrich, Global Procurement Officer. “Now, Kimberly-Clark is looked upon as a best practice example in the world of Procurement professionals, and for that we are honored.
