Position Summary

This role is structured within the global external contract manufacturing (ECM) team for Kimberly-Clark Professional division. The scope of the role is the global thin mill glove category supply base.

The Global Contract Manufacturing Manager is accountable for driving operational excellence with the network of supply partners within this market family.  The candidate will collaborate with an extended team including Planning, Procurement, Quality, and R&D. The successful candidate will deliver objectives in social compliance, quality assurance, customer service, cost management, and innovation. The candidate will have accountability for the supplier selection process and lead supply assurance work streams, such as identifying and qualifying new and/or alternate suppliers.

The Global Contract Manufacturing Manager is accountable for driving executional excellence in alignment with global enterprise initiatives. Key focus areas include ensuring suppliers meet K-C standards for social compliance, quality, regulatory requirements, and ethics. Additionally, this role will ensure suppliers meet customer service commitments, drive cost efficiencies, and deliver against innovation commitments. This will be done through deployment of leader standard work, visual management processes, and tiered escalation processes. This requires regularly scheduled cross-functional results reviews with internal and external partners.

Global end users of KCP products, business team, product management teams, innovation/renovation team, quality & regulatory assurance, procurement, logistics, planning, and external/internal manufacturing supply base.

Expectations & Accountabilities:

  • Engage in supply planning process to synchronize supply with demand, to optimize inventory position and service, and ensure future capacity needs are met.
  • Enable innovation and growth through execution of research & manufacturing special runs.
  • Protect our brand promise through consistent delivery of products and services in the quantities, timing, and quality expected.
  • Drive total delivered cost savings program execution of a minimum 3-5% year-over-year savings to fulfill sector operating profit objectives, and develop & execute against a 3-year cost savings pipeline.
  • Conduct standard safety reviews with documented feedback and follow-up actions as required during operational visits to top category suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the corporate social compliance office to develop an audit plan and ensure corrective actions are in place within 30 days of audit.
  • In collaboration with the global quality team, implement “quality at the source” framework at top 3 strategic suppliers.
  • Leverage continuous improvement tools (4SPS, kaizen, transformation) to deliver step change improvements (>10% improvement) on top 3-5 category quality complaints drivers.
  • Deploy operational category visual management scorecards and tiered escalation.
  • In collaboration with global procurement and aligned with supplier relationship management program, develop & deploy supplier scorecards with strategic suppliers.
  • Drive supplier production conformance 95% with strategic & core suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Supply Chain
  • 7+ years combined experience across operations (manufacturing, logistics), engineering, planning, or procurement/sourcing
  • Operational experience with FDA, CE and other regulated products
  • Capability & skillset to assess value through Lean 6-sigma, value stream mapping, clean sheet costing, make/buy analytics
  • Available to travel globally unsupervised 25-30% of time (Americas, Europe, Asia)
  • Willingness to flex work hours occasionally and as necessary to engage global teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote)

Scope- Front End Innovation and Pilot facilities

Global Nonwovens (GNW) has an opening for an R&E Director to provide leadership, strategic direction and delivery of high value technical and material solutions to support K-C’s business strategies, innovation & growth plans, and cost transformation. This R&E Director role has responsibility for the Front End Innovation (FEI) portfolio in addition to the pilot facilities which provides nonwoven prototyping services to all of K-C. This role also provides leadership to key GNW subject matter experts in support of sector innovation and cost transformation goals. This position will interface with colleagues across GNW as well as global partners in KCNA, KCI, KCP, and CR&E and external partners in academia, government, industry and non-government organizations (NGOs). It is expected that the candidate will have relevant experience in nonwovens process and materials development.

Role Purpose/Scope

Provide leadership and strategic vision to develop and maintain a healthy FEI portfolio resulting in delivery of high value technical and material solution options to the BU IMF Teams, driving operational efficiency and new technologies in the pilot facilities to safely provide prototyping capabilities to all customers, and develop/coach both technical and management leadership to deliver a sustainable pipeline of talent for the future.

Primary Responsibilities

Innovation

  • Develop a healthy FEI pipeline working in partnership with GNW leadership and BU stakeholders to provide:
    • A portfolio that is aligned with BU innovation needs
    • Delivery of high value technical and material solution options to the BU IMF portfolios
    • FEI portfolio visibility to GNW, CR&E and BU’s Senior Leadership
  • Establish and grow connections across the BU R&E teams to provide clear direction on current innovation needs and longer term disruptive innovation opportunities
  • Ensure pilot facility provides a safe environment for customers and drive strategy for near/longer term innovation capabilities

Customer Confidence

  • Ensure the FEI portfolio is connected to the BU stated consumer needs and clearly indicates the benefits with key milestones including timing and cost

  • Develop anti-corruption related course content for online and in-person/classroom training courses with a specific focus on regional/local type issues

Evaluating

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 plus relevant years working in legal, audit, compliance, risk, and ethics focused on anti-corruption related issues and programs

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage, maintain, enforce, monitor, and evaluate the compliance program in the region in coordination with the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer and regional leadership team
  • Partner with the regional leadership team on compliance matters to (i) ensure regional compliance with K-C’s Code of Conduct, laws, regulations, standards, guidelines, and best practices, (ii) embed the compliance program and K-C’s culture in the region and (iii) make sure the right messages and controls are cascaded throughout the region
  • Stay abreast of new rules and regulations and trends in the industry and region; review, understand and analyze the impact to the business and compliance program and; share information to the business and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer
  • Establish effective working relationships and build credibility within the region to support a culture of ethics & compliance
  • Serve as compliance regional point of contact and be visible and accessible to employees in the region
  • Manage the implementation of various compliance initiatives and campaigns to drive awareness and knowledge in the region
  • Lead specific projects to enhance compliance program and assist with special projects as needed
  • Work closely Ethics & Compliance Leaders from the other regions to share information and knowledge
  • Identify and evaluate the necessary programs, processes, and resources to maintain and improve the compliance program in the region

Risk Assessment

  • Conduct periodic assessment of compliance risks in the region while developing auditing, monitoring, and oversight processes to ensure mitigation
  • Manage the risk-exposure in the region by ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, government or regulatory body
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and monitoring in response to identified issues
  • Provide regular updates on the status and effectiveness of the compliance program key risks and mitigation activities to regional leadership and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer in collaboration with other functions

HelpLine

  • Implement policies and procedures and set the environment that encourages employees to report compliance concerns without the fear of retaliation in the region
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and monitoring in response to identified issues from HelpLine inquiries or from risk assessment mitigation plans
  • Maintain the effective operation of K-C’s Code of Conduct Helpline in the region that allows for anonymous reporting and perform quarterly reviews of the Code of Conduct Helpline to ensure it is operating effectively in the region
  • Collaborate with other K-C departments (Internal Audit, Human Resources, Global Security and Legal) to ensure that reports and other indications of possible misconduct are appropriately and promptly investigated, that appropriate corrective action is taken, including enhancements to the compliance and ethics program, and that the results of these investigations are accurately tracked and maintained

Training and Communications

  • Conduct an annual training and communication needs analysis and develop and implement a compliance training program across the region in collaboration with the Corporate Compliance Program Office and regional owners (HR, Communications, Legal, Finance and Internal Audit)
  • Assist subject matter experts to develop course content for online and in-person/classroom training courses with a specific focus on regional/local type issues
  • Partner with subject matter experts to deliver in-person subject specific compliance training
  • Collaborate with Corporate Compliance Program Office to develop and implement a regional communications plan and to produce regular communications on important compliance news, initiatives, and developments

Evaluating

  • Create, analyze and drive continuous improvements based upon evaluation results from KPIs, audits or surveys in collaboration with the Corporate Compliance Program Office and other relevant K-C departments
  • Undertake strategic projects to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the regional compliance program in coordination with the regional leadership team

QUALIFICATIONS

Apply financial concepts in an end-to-end business context covering manufacturing capacity planning and asset utilization; capital planning, investment and ROI across our entire mill network; S&OP; procurement; logistics and transportation; demand patterns and key drivers.
  • Establish an effective finance / business analysis support infrastructure for the Global Supply Chain organization including direct support and processes to interact with and leverage local and regional resources.
  • Work with the GSC leadership team to coordinate and develop capital investment proposals that support timely and profitable business decisions – this role, along with the Global Manufacturing VP will act as global capital process owners.
  • Establish and operate financial processes that provide timely, accurate and meaningful data to effectively manage the Global Supply Chain and continually improve ROI. Provide ongoing budget and spending control oversight to the GSC team.
  • Ensure application of efficient financial and operating controls supporting K-C’s requirements for an effective control environment.
  • Have shared responsibility for talent development and succession planning within K-C’s Finance community.

Supply Chain Strategy and Analytics. The selected financial/strategic leader will partner and closely collaborate with the Chief Supply Chain Officer and her deputies in the development of the global supply chain strategy and agenda. Additionally, s/he will:

  • Drive programs to influence the organization to make adjustments to existing strategies based upon new insights and learning that lead to higher impact/ROI
  • Partner with CSCO to identify and prioritize potential business opportunities and evaluate potential investments/strategic partnerships by providing leadership and analysis of discrete business projects or initiatives
  • Collaborate with the GSC organization to lead high-impact enterprise-oriented change by actively participating in building and executing supply chain capabilities, business strategies, objectives and plans.

Integrated Planning and Cross-Company Interactions. Work with business unit finance teams to implement end to end supply chain strategies and embed into BU plans – ensuring strategies/plans are correlated and integrated.

  • Be critical catalyst in integrating and aligning global supply chain plans with financial BU plans across Kimberly-Clark – ensure GSC strategies result in actionable plans and get integrated into BU agendas.
  • Drive process improvements designed to increase efficiency within the finance function and K-C as it pertains to optimizing our GSC spend.

Personal Impact and Communications. Add personal insight, galvanize discussion and debate across the organization on key strategic supply chain issues, generating ideas and creative frameworks.

  • Use a combination of financial acumen, insights, and personal impact to build credibility and influence financial outcomes.
  • Work jointly with the CSCO and her deputies in making presentations to senior management, the Board of Directors, and key external constituencies on strategic matters pertaining to global supply chain.

The ideal candidate possesses the following key experiences:

  • More than 15 years of experience, and greater than half in a multinational/global business, with several years of experience in a finance leadership position in a complex, progressive, global environment along with a strong track record of personal achievement and advancement.
  • Minimum of 5 years in finance leadership role supporting a manufacturing, distribution, and / or supply chain operation – strongly preferred in the consumer packaged goods industry
  • Must possess and demonstrate high degree of financial, analytical and process leadership competence.
  • Strong strategic agility, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills – proven high learning agility
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced setting; enthusiastic about the potential strategic options facing Kimberly-Clark; well-grounded in pragmatic approaches to structuring options available
  • Experience working in the context of a large, complex, global organization where working across boundaries and leading through influence are keys to success.
  • Experience in driving change to deliver business results – knows what it takes to transform an organization
  • Executive stature – is viewed as promotable to a senior finance leadership role
  • Strong interpersonal skills along with exceptional influence and change management skills – ability and credibility to establish a strong network with other business unit Finance leads and business leaders
  • Excellent presentation, communication/influencing skills, and overall business acumen
  • Decisive, yet collaborative and inclusive.
  • Experience & proven competency as influential member of senior leadership team.
