  • Summary of Position

    Leads a group of category directors responsible for marketing and professional services at Kimberly-Clark. Ensures that Kimberly-Clark’s total volume, spend and supplier relationships are leveraged across platforms and integrated for product and service optimization in accordance with business strategy. Actively participates as an enterprise leader on the Global Procurement Leadership Team including leading strategic initiatives across all business units and procurement teams. Responsible for challenging and directing global procurement strategies and commodity negotiations to ensure maximum enterprise benefit.

    Ensure procurement practices are in accordance with corporate ethics, financial instructions and internal control requirements and result in providing the requisite quality and safety.

Business Priorities:

  • Managing commodity pricing volatility which impacts business P&Ls by hundreds of millions dollars each year
  • Supply Risk mitigation to prevent material and services disruption and the potential associated revenue impact
  • Collaborating with Regional Procurement Leaders, Product Supply leaders, Functional leaders and suppliers to deliver exceptional service through supplier innovation
  • Enable business growth by providing margin and cash for investment

Role Accountabilities:

  • Lead the team to optimally manage the total external spend of marketing and professional services spend for Kimberly-Clark
  • Key interface with Regional/BU Procurement Leader to understand and deliver business requirements
  • Sets global strategies aligned to business needs in partnership with Regional/BU Procurement Leader and reviews on a regular basis
  • Maximize cost savings and value creation with key suppliers to improve Kimberly-Clark’s level of profitability
  • Guarantee continuity of service and deliver exceptional quality to the business
  • Drives supplier collaboration and innovation to bring additional value creation to customers, consumers, and internal stakeholders
  • Drive CI / Lean within the procurement team and across the supply chain working with suppliers on their lean initiatives
  • Maintain close, co-operative relationships with key customers including R&E, mill process teams, product development and sales & marketing
  • Accountable for the category spend of $2 – 3B annually across supply market categories through direct reports
  • Ensure specific project or supplier strategies are established for all majorservice contracts to consistently meet specifications, avoid supply interruptions, provide flexibility, mitigate risks, minimize Kimberly-Clark’s internal resources to manage supply and provide cost and / or product advantages.
  • Establish and manage relationships with suppliers who can provide Kimberly-Clark’s with technology innovations, speed to market, continuously improved quality and overall supply value for growth and improved financial returns.
  • Foster partnership relations with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain expertise, and provide advice, counsel and services, as requested, on supplier selection and relationships, negotiating, price and availability forecasting, expediting, and other purchasing problems and situations to other purchasing units and internal business groups worldwide.
  • Ensure application of established corporate financial controls within the department by providing operating management direction and support to the implementation and maintenance of financial policies, instructions, and internal control procedures.
  • Lead the development, communication and implementation of Procurement objectives, operating philosophies, business strategies and organizational visions.
  • Shape and sustain an effective, motivated team that delivers desired business results by providing vision and direction, building trust, selecting, coaching and developing team members, leveraging individual abilities and ensuring best practices are utilized.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business, supply chain, science, engineering or related discipline
  • 15-20 years of experience in increasingly broader procurement, supply chain or product supply roles with demonstrated track record of achievement and growth in leadership.
  • Internal to Kimberly-Clark candidates must currently be in a Director Level Position.
  • Extensive and broad managerial experience in team management
  • Technical knowledge of contract negotiation strategies and global contracting nuances.

Summary

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work with data and multi-functional team to synthesize and interpret information/data to develop insights providing new perspective on the retail environment including identifying risks and opportunities associated with sales fundamentals, namely Distribution, Pricing, Shelving and Merchandising
  • Identify emerging trends and identify business implications and proactively recommend solutions
  • Serve as the “Voice of the Customer”, generating implications and hypotheses that can further K-C business objectives and assist in identifying opportunities and strategy development.
  • Benchmark with other CPG companies to identify Best Practices in the area of Go-to-Market processes and strategies to enable KC to rapidly enhance its capabilities in this area.

  • Develop and distribute clear, concise and compelling communication of brand strategies, plans and initiatives as well as associated Front End deliverables to customer teams. Deliver actionable information in a timely manner in a readily accessible fashion for assigned Brand(s).
  • Act as the “Voice of Customer” throughout the IMP/brand building process, championing and developing customer integration into appropriate assigned Brand initiatives.
  • Coordinates and assist development of assigned Brand Plan communication for Annual Operating Plan kickoff meetings to Channel Development teams and customer teams.
  • Responsible for proactive plans for allocation, production breaks, customer service and inventory strategy on assigned Brand(s).
  • Tracks against DPSM IMF commitments and develops, recommends and executes resulting mid-course corrective action.
  • Facilitator and “Go-To” contact for the Channel Development teams when brand approval needed outside of guardrails (e.g. funding needs greater than trade budget, SKU beyond budget, financial hurdle not met, etc)

Manage the Content Production Service Provider Network: Work with the leader and execute the strategy for the selection and implementation of a scaled global content production network. Once in place work with the regions to manage the content production service network.
Lead the selection and execution of Content Production Service Provider: Work with the regional production lead and regional marketing BP to select the appropriate scaled content production partner in the region. Lead the selection of the vendor via standard documents such as RFP templates, selection criteria, mgmt. of services, etc.
Establish standard work to manage the content production partner: Establish standard work that can be executed by the regional production lead and govern the standard work via standard reports from the regional production lead
Develop scorecards to govern the Content Production Service Provider: Develop standard scorecards that inventory the work being done across K-C markets, report on the quality of work and track the savings.
Vendor Mgmt : Ensure contractual and budgetary compliance for services being executed. Establish appropriate measures to track performance and availability for supported technologies and platforms. Based on experience and foresight, guide team members in problem solving and risk mitigation.
