Job Description

Position Purpose:

Partners in the development and deployment of Kimberly-Clark North America communications strategies to inform, engage and persuade key internal and external stakeholders.  Reporting directly to the Director of Communications for Kimberly-Clark North America, he/she will influence key leaders in support of the business strategy, empower leaders to accelerate employee engagement, and enhance the company’s reputation as an employer of choice.

 

Customers and Customer Expectations:

Key customers for this position are: Director of Communications; Global Communications Vice President; North America Group President and their direct reports; senior leaders; key staff; other key customers and Global Communications team members. These customers expect aligned and sound communications strategy, counsel and advice, and exceptional tactical execution.

Scope/Organizational Relationships:

He/she works to lead, develop, provide input and implement communications strategies in support of the business strategy and the Kimberly-Clark enterprise.

  • Engages key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Develops messaging to drive alignment around strategy and its key priorities
  • Drives business transformation agendas, and
  • Strengthens the One K-C Culture

He/she must exercise considerable discretion with regard to information communicated and is expected to handle serious and sensitive subjects with tact, excellent judgment and confidentiality. He/she will encounter a variety of complex problems in the role, and therefore must be able to manage expectations of key stakeholders who have conflicting inputs and differing needs, and deliver effective communications.

Principal Accountabilities:

Communications Strategy

  • Develops strategy and deploys communication plans that include message development, stakeholder engagement, tactical execution and measurement to achieve objectives
  • Partners with the North America sector businesses to develop and deploy effective internal communications that align to the K-C way of communicating and reinforces connection to the Kimberly-Clark North America strategy
  • Provides strategic communications counsel and counsel to leaders
  • Leverages communications skills, knowledge and experience to advise Director of Communications’ decision-making

Reputational Brand Management

  • Oversees all North America brand PR activities and amplifies opportunities where possible. Partners with Global Communications External Relations team, external brand PR agencies and Senior Brand Managers
  • Supports Director of Communications in mitigating brand and business issues and managing crisis

Communications Infrastructure

  • Develops content for global and North America communications tools and channels, including but not limited to campaigns, business quarterly updates, intranet, press releases and social media
  • Provides research, writing, editing and proofreading capabilities

People/Relationship Management

  • Actively coaches and develops talent on the Global and North America communications team
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders to identify communications opportunities, and foster collaboration and mutual support

Basic Qualification

This position requires 10+ years corporate communications experience and 5+ years corporate media relations and brand PR experience. Knowledge and understanding of social media. The incumbent has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

As K-C develops its marketing capabilities to market to the consumer and deliver a seamless consumer experience through all touch points, the need to produce content that right for the consumer at the right moment (channel) on the right medium is critical for creating participation. Doing this at scale, in multiple formats, in multiple countries makes the challenge even greater. We are seeking the best minds that will help create a content production factory for K-C marketers so that we can create all forms of content in all media types that can be delivered to the right consumer, at the right time, in the right channel on the right device (medium) to engage maximum participation to drive revenue and propel K-C into the future.

The individual has direct accountability to drive scaled content production via the mgmt. of network of partners on a global basis. The individual works with each region to determine what their production needs are and works to drive the selection of the partner and enable them for service delivery in the region. The individual is responsible for maintaining relations with the key vendor client executive to ensure service delivery and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the Content Production Service Provider Network: Work with the leader and execute the strategy for the selection and implementation of a scaled global content production network. Once in place work with the regions to manage the content production service network.
Lead the selection and execution of Content Production Service Provider: Work with the regional production lead and regional marketing BP to select the appropriate scaled content production partner in the region. Lead the selection of the vendor via standard documents such as RFP templates, selection criteria, mgmt. of services, etc.
Establish standard work to manage the content production partner: Establish standard work that can be executed by the regional production lead and govern the standard work via standard reports from the regional production lead
Develop scorecards to govern the Content Production Service Provider: Develop standard scorecards that inventory the work being done across K-C markets, report on the quality of work and track the savings.
Vendor Mgmt : Ensure contractual and budgetary compliance for services being executed. Establish appropriate measures to track performance and availability for supported technologies and platforms. Based on experience and foresight, guide team members in problem solving and risk mitigation.

Education required/ preferred: 

  • A Bachelors degree with 10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 or more years of applied experience Experience with marketing/digital content and exposure to marketing tools such as:  Sprinklr, Livefyre, BazaarVoice, Sitecore, etc.

• Experience in managing digital production, creative production within an agency.
• Working knowledge of digital content production, media and print production.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing people in offsite and off shore locations
• Ability to work in a virtual team which may work across distance (remote), cultures and time zones, in a matrix with multiple reporting lines, and may extend outside the K-C organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
• Verbal and written fluency in English is mandatory
