POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide leadership, coordination and technical direction in order to effectively manage business objectives for UCTAD Converting assets / lines (safety, quality, housekeeping, logistics, continuous improvement, productivity, cost, internal control, asset management, human resources and development). This position is responsible to understand and enforce the applicable site EHS procedures and requirements for their area.

Mill Management, Product System Leader, Converting Manager, Operating Team Associates, Maintenance, FC Sector / Staff, Engineering, and other functional team members, end users.

SCOPE:
The incumbent reports to the BIL UCTAD Lines 5-8 Asset Leader. The incumbent provides leadership in achieving team objectives for converting assets and leads team / mill projects. This person develops business plans with up to a one-year planning horizon.  Objectives typically are focused at the Asset level, but some are Product System and Mill-wide in nature.
Accountability will include the following:

  • Developing and maintain a safe operating environment (i.e. EHS management)
  • Enforce quality requirements and centerline systems
  • Manage COM (i.e. operating supplies, maintenance, labor, gap closure savings, etc.)
  • Providing day-to-day direction to the UCTAD converting asset team
  • Development of team objectives
  • Development and management of Continuous Improvement / Tactical Implementation Plan and Daily Accountability Process using LEAN and OPEX thinking / tools
  • Providing constructive coaching to hourly team members
  • Collaborating with staff Planning on the production schedule and re-sieves
  • Deliver customer service
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with mill leadership
  • Support mill initiatives on Safety, Quality, Reliability, S&O capability, and Culture of Accountability.
    • Ability to manage vendor/supplier relationships in a positive cost effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited College or University.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a high-speed industrial manufacturing environment.

Summary:

Deliver on Forecast accuracy Key performance indicators
Provide a demand forecasting perspective on business issues.
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to adjust statistical forecast with up to date market information
Challenge, assess and maintain justifications for increased and decreases in the forecast
Extensively use system capabilities to deliver best in class forecast
Responsible for establishing an accurate demand forecast for each stock keeping unit by month and by business region for a rolling 24 months.
• Requires on-going interaction with sales and marketing teams to ensure that there is good business input into the forecast and challenge assumptions through rigorous analysis.

• Proactively communicate to the planning teams and to the HC Constraint and Demand Forecast Team Leader on significant deviations between sales and forecast or significant changes in the future forecast.
• Lead continuous improvement programs to improve sales forecast accuracy, forecasting processes, and systems.

The Procurement Senior Specialist is responsible for leading North America commodity sourcing for Injection Molding and Contract Manufacturing categories to achieve variable cost productivity, working capital, and business financial goals. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Develops a thorough strategic plan to drive value for their category based on an understanding of business unit needs, the supply market, spend baseline and evolution, and benchmarking. Effectively document, communicate and gain buy-in for the strategy.

2. Lead or co-lead projects and/or initiatives to eliminate waste and variability in the supply chain. Specific emphasis will be placed on planning, managing, and implementing major projects and/or project groups in a repeatable process to realize results. Research, select, develop and maintain adequate sources of supply to ensure that the requirements of the category are met with the optimum quality, service and cost to use.

3. Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with relevant functional teams to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger

4. Develop and execute strategic, global multi-year plans in co-ordination with Global Commodity Director by leveraging all sourcing enablers including should cost/parametric analysis, RFQ & negotiations, low cost country sourcing, and VA/VE (substitution, standardization, weight reduction etc..) to drive operational excellence in quality, productivity, innovation and working capital.

5. Analyze and execute various strategic sourcing levers that can be utilized to reduce Total Cost of Ownership and Total Delivered Cost for the assigned commodity utilizing appropriate financial models

6. Ability to successfully reach business objectives through supplier negotiations. Analyzes market and supply dynamics related to supplier proposals to develop a matrix of negotiation scenarios. Engages business leaders to align on acceptable negotiation outcomes. Develops counter-arguments, opening positions, and plan for executing negotiations.

7. Leads the development of risk analyses, assessments and mitigation plans for their category. Manage our supplier network for assigned commodities to provide sufficient materials and services to meet our highest short-range requirements, protect against temporary supply interruptions and provide for our long-range growth needs. Develop and execute a plan to quickly and effectively manage a supply interruption.

8. Interacts with business units to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships for extracting the greatest value in cost, security of supply, risk management, sustainability and innovation. Manage the ongoing performance of our suppliers including objective setting and supplier evaluations where warranted.

9. Comprehend and provide constructive input on legal contract documents related to purchasing terms, conditions, indemnification, intellectual property ownership, etc. Develop long term agreements with suppliers that achieve our innovation, risk management, and operational deliverables.

10. Knowledgeable about the markets and how they affect price, availability, or supply chain logistics. Will use specific market analysis to predict behavior and supply risks to the organization. Will adjust strategy to minimize effect of market change. May provide market analysis to customers and advice to others within procurement.

11. Forecast timely price and availability information on assigned commodities for the various consuming businesses and communicate this information to appropriate personnel in the company so it is properly integrated into business strategy and decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related discipline
-7 or more years of relevant experience
-Operates with limited business direction
-Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in a major purchasing commodity group

Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience in supporting Class II Medical Device or FDA regulated products
-Experience or relevant industry knowledge with Injection Molding and Contract Manufacturing
-Strong quantitative, cost modeling, and data analysis skills
-Strong project management and process improvement skills
-Strong communication and presentation skills
-Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and leadership skills
-Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization
-Problem solving experience in reducing total costs and improving processes
-Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
-Six Sigma and Lean training
-CPM or CPIM (APICS) certification
-Purchasing system experience (e.g. Ariba, SAP, Oracle)

Responsibilities:
1. Develop, document, implement and report on the verification and validation of new product and their accompanying processes if applicable.
2. Responsible for supplier assessment oversee outside supplier’s quality.
3. Develop Quality plans for new materials, components and finished medical devices.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with QSR, ISO 13485/ ISO 14791 and MDD.
5. Review Overall manufacturing process and Quality System elements for continuous improvement.
6. Knowledge of failure analysis, (FMEA-Process & Product Design)
7. TQM and SPC (statistical process control), FDA Quality System Regulation.
8. Work with suppliers of material, component or design changes to ensure timely implementation and quality.
9. Create product in process and final inspection procedures that define methodologies used for determining the level of process and product integrity based on all applicable requirements and specifications.
10. Provide receiving inspection with written instruction for inspecting components and assemblies.
11. Support product complaint investigation by performing failure and root cause analysis on products returned from the field.
12. Originate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and assist in the implementation of CAPA program.
13. Develop new approaches for solving problems identified during quality assurance activities
14. Support technical and administrative workers engaged in Quality Assurance activities.
15. Lead the MRB in the reporting & disposition of nonconforming materials. Maintain NCMR (non-conforming materials) database. Review corrective actions on NCMRS for adequacy to maintain a continuing awareness of quality issues.
16. Maintain the calibration database system. Assure timeliness and adherence to calibration schedules and equipment. Provide guidance to Mexico operations.
17. Review Protocols and Reports for Process/Product Validations for compliance with procedures.

Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree, CQE Certification desirable

Experience: Three years of related experience in the medical device industry. Analytical, detail oriented team player. Excellent communication, problem solving and project management skills.

Knowledge: Microsoft windows (Excel, Word, Outlook). FDA QSR, MDD 93/42/EEC, ISO 13485/ ISO 14791, CMDR, GHTF-Process Validation Guidance.
