Position

Reporting to the Vice President – Finance for Kimberly Clark North America and partnering with the Business Unit President, the Senior Director – Finance is an executive level position that will play a critical role in developing and implementing the strategy for North America Family Care. As a member of the Sector leadership team, the Director will be an advisor to the Sector Vice-President, evaluating and assisting them with strategy development, financial planning, economic modeling and value creation.

 

This role is a highly visible, pass-through assignment with exposure to the CEO and CFO of the company.  It is expected that the successful candidate will demonstrate significant leadership and executive potential to achieve further career growth in Kimberly-Clark with the possibility of future relocation.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

 

Strategy

 

  • As a true business leader to the Sector and Business Units, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and KCNA’s long-term strategy. Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the Vice President and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Drive transformation and optimization of operating structure and processes, including cost management of sales investments, manufacturing, and overhead structures while at the same time being a visionary in support of cogent, innovative investments for growth.
  • Engage the sector and finance leadership around issues, trends, and changes and opportunities in the operating model(s) and operational delivery.  Champion innovative thinking and a bias for positive change and inspired growth.
  • Champion working capital efficiency, capital expense management and improving ROIC.
  • Lead long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with KCNA’s strategic plan, especially as the organization considers sponsorships, potential acquisitions, and collaborations with external organizations.
  • Understanding key risks facing the business and helping the business team assess and undertake smart risks to drive growth

Financial and Operational Management

 

  • Drive a material impact on the success of K-C through economic value creation.
    Elevate and advance the Finance function while accelerating the impact the team has on business unit performance.
  • Develop insightful analysis, reporting and dash-boarding to illuminate risks and opportunities to the Sector teams.
  • Partner with information technology (IT) to optimize finance IT systems to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets so as to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally.
  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with accounting, regulator, and internal audit requirements.
  • Driving the organization’s capability, leveraging systems & shared service efficiencies, and being a champion of sharing and adopting best practices.
  • Champion and lead Ethics, Compliance and Controls across the business.

  • Serve as a strong Talent Developer by hiring, developing, retaining and promoting direct team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and raising the performance bar.

Qualifications 

The Director will be a seasoned and mature leader with at least 12-15 years of broad finance experience, ideally beginning in operations for a consumer products company, followed by experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. S/he will have experience managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based entity.

Principal Accountabilities:

Kimberly-Clark, with five billion-dollar brands, has a strong legacy of innovation backed by our proprietary technologies.  Most recently, the company has developed the first-of-a-kind Sofusa™ DoseDisc™ System for transdermal delivery of liquid formulations of proteins, peptides and small molecules.  Unlike prefilled syringes, auto-injectors and pens that provide one delivery option (bolus), the Sofusa™ DoseDisc™ System is designed to provide drug developers a range of controlled delivery options without requiring reformulation.  Simple-to-administer and pain-free for patients, the Sofusa™ DoseDisc™ system has been approved by US FDA for two INDs.  A qualified supply chain is in place and scale-up of cGMP production is underway.  A successful Phase I clinical trial was completed in 2014.

Purpose of this New Role:

Lead the development and execution of strategic engagements with external organizations to drive growth and profitability for the Sofusa™ business unit. Target 2-4 deals per year to deliver net sales of $500MM by 2020 and $2B by 2025.  Lead negotiations with external parties as well as processes within K-C to identify, qualify and close agreements.

Role Accountabilities:

 

Build relationships in the industry

  • Build Sofusa™ brand and technology awareness in the Pharma industry and with targeted contacts (commercial, R&D, BD&L) at key prospects.
  • Create  a positive perception in the industry of K-C as a collaborator and the first choice for transdermal drug delivery.
  • Lead development of enduring, multi-functional and multi-level relationships (strategic relationship management).

 

Lead search and evaluation for strategic partners for the Sofusa™ technology

  • Working with Sofusa™ BU leadership and technology resources, prioritize new product opportunities consistent with the business’ objectives.
  • Identify and qualify strategic relationships to develop/commercialize new product opportunities.
  • Develop and present a compelling proposition for the Sofusa™ technology platform and new product opportunities to prospective partners.

 

Lead negotiations with prospective partners and lead K-C internal process(es) resulting in Agreements that meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Position Summary:

Responsible for ICP (Integrated Commercial Planning) strategic delivery for KCP North America:

  •   Ensures each Brand/Segment level team is both empowered & enabled to drive / deliver the ICP Process in an agile & effective way
  •   Delivers targeted lead/demand generation via effective commercial programs to fuel business development
  •         ·    Leads the development of a strategic model of investment deployment based on segment opportunity and identified goals & role of commercial investment.
  •         ·   Leads the development of standard work to robustly track Marketing ROI.

 Principal Accountabilities:

  •   Ensure all brands have best practice Brand Stories developed and fully internalized and commercialized in focus segments
  •   Commercial Program development & deployment driving lead/demand generation
  •   Best Practices

o   Partner with global sector organizations to share and contribute to knowledge transfer

  •   ICP Concept Understanding

o   Ensure all local stakeholders have robust working knowledge of ICP in a B2B world, with line of sight to mastery

  •   Stakeholder Management / Integration. Delivers routine standard sector level reporting on

o   Commercial Program Status and ROI

o   Commercial Program Best Practice

  •   Elevation of Marketing function in KCP

 

Key Accountabilities:

  •   This role will direct the North American Integrated Marketing team with a direct budget of $4 million and team of 30.
  •   This role will have accountability for ICP development & ownership/leadership of the internal & external Marketing Supply Chain supporting the North American KCP.
  •   The critical need of the business is to maximize the ROI by better integrating our end to end Marketing investment to drive a step change in the commercialization of our innovation and commercial programs.
  •   The role will involve blue-printing then building internal & external Marketing supply chain resources to meet the business needs
  •   The role will have accountability for developing the Marketing communications and Marketing investment strategy in conjunction with the Go to Market leaders.
  •   Critical first phase of the role will include a value analysis of current investment, work, processes and capability across the Marketing mix to define a pathway with milestones to evolve to an optimum deployment model.
  •   The role will also have a seat at the NA leadership table to drive Marketing ROI throughout the commercialization process.
  • Critical skills include: omni-channel agency management & development; Senior leader collaboration; team leadership & development; organizational development and change management; partnership development with Global sector and Global Marketing teams.  This role will be supported by the Global Marketing Brand experience and Customer engagement team to create an effective operating model for ICP development and deployment.
  • People and LEAN process management, collaboration and integrated marketing conceptual and functional vision and leadership skills required. The incumbent must be influential with peers, associates, internal customers and agencies and must be connected with key external industry leaders.

Qualifications:

  •   Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  •   12 – 15 years of agency and client side marketing experience required.  B2B experience and passion strongly preferred
  •   Strong team leader experience required.  Experience leading leaders preferred
  •   Experience building internal & external marketing supply chain to meet the business needs.
  •   Experience developing marketing communications and marketing investment strategies
  •   Strong grasp of program design/planning and activation experience through CRM, search, digital content/distribution and ecommerce channels
  •   Ability to travel up to 25%
